History

In 1874 Bill Wells paid $8.00 an acre for 250 acres running from today's Legacy Road south just past the 2-story historical home on Coit across from the Villas.  The land stayed in the family for three generations and was farmed with corn, oats, wheat and cotton.  Where our park is today is where the grain storage silos were located.  As West Plano began developing, parcels were sold off bit by bit.  William Wells, grandson of the colorful Bill Wells, sold our neighborhood to a developer in the mid '80s.

When Larry Collins of Castlegate Homes concepted our neighborhood he was definitely ahead of his time.  Zero lot lines were perceived to be something the traditional buyers of Plano would never accept.

But that didn't stop Larry!  In 1988 he purchased our land and began putting in streets and platting lots.  He built about 9 or 10 homes before hard times fell on him.  In October, 1991, he signed a Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure giving the property back to the bank.  4020 Fiser was the last completed home.  And, there were about five or six incomplete homes that were abandoned.  Naturally, these became prime targets for vandals.

In January, 1992 Murchison Development assumed the note for our neighborhood.  Talon Curtis and Goodman Homes soon built models and finished the incomplete homes.  In 1994 Talon Curtis pulled out, and Avery Edwards took over their inventory.  The last home built was 4041 Cornish Place and was bought by an Avery Edwards salesman.

And the market discovered zero lot line homes are a good idea after all!!!
